| Emo boys and gals have always tried to look unique, and their apparel and accessories have been the most important feature of their image. Feeling outcasts of society, emo individuals avoid conformism. This article offers a few basic tips on how to get emo look. One can easily identify a true emo by the Emo hairstyle, which suggests straight coloured hair (usually black, but it can also be white, dark brown, purple etc.) frequently interleaved with bright colors (vibrant pink, green, blue or red), a long fringe brushed to one side of the face or over one or both eyes. Bob-cuts, assymetry and hair short in the back and long in the front are considered very emo too. The most significant thing is to make your hair look expressive. Emo fashion is all about very narrow clothes. Emo clothing is normally viewed as very narrow emo jeans (drainpipes or skinnies) on boys and females alike. Jeans are worn with a double belt. One belt is normally of usual design and the other one is decorated with clinchers and metal strips. Belts with studs and large belt buckles are also popular. Dresses and skirts can be worn by gals if properly matched with converse and leg warmers.
Very narrow emo t-shirts often have the name of rock bands or very common self-deprecating designs such as the bleeding heart, stars and the skull. Vintage or vintage-looking shirts with images of animated heroes or rock musicians are also very very common. The key here is originality, or at least the illusion of it. Again, the t-shirt or a jacket should be very skin tight, capable 2 sizes smaller.
For looking emo, black eyeliner and other dark make-up are important. Remember, there is never too little black eye liner, shades, and black mascara. A little brightly coloured eyeliner can also be applied in combination with the black eye liner.
Emo shoes image complete. The most very common emo shoes are Converses or Vans. But many other shoes, as long as they are black with brightly coloured laces, can also be made look emo. The most very common choice is sports footwear of conversion or vanguard style. To look more emo, shoes can be adorned with whiteout pen/highlighter/permanent marker.
