| The word chat room has now become very common particularly among the Gen-X. Technically it is defined as any kind of conversation that takes places among two or a group people on the web. It is thus any website or a part of website providing internet users with a platform to converse. Chatting can involve a prolonged conversation or even just an instant message exchanged. Certain things that make up a part of this conduct include introducing yourself, putting your part in a conversation straight, etc. Unethical users may disrupt a conversation by verbally using offensive words and on retaliation continuing to repeat the offensive language; a practice known as scrolling.
Websites have now assorted their services for chat based on the taste and preferences of various users. This means that now you can enter a room that suit you. This may be in terms of region and other forms of interest. For e.g.: There are rooms created for users from US, India, UK, Canada, etc. in Yahoo! One can enter the room where he/she can find his fellow country users. Moreover, few companies have given the freedom to users for creating their personal rooms.
Whenever people enter any chat rooms there are certain rules and regulations that have to be followed religiously. This helps to maintain the veracity and security of these rooms. For instance, rooms in which children are also present users aren’t allowed to use abusive languages, spread explicit content or promote violent behavior. One should also not type with the caps on as it’s generally seen as shouting and assertive language.
